Voacbulary Enricher

After reading, " Turning up the Light" by James M. Barrie from the book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul  I have found that there are some challenging words and ideas that we may not clearly understand. The forth is:

                                resolve
In the text the aurhor uses this word when describing the partial solution of the major conflict in the story.
according to Dictionary.com the word means:

to deal with a question, a matter of uncertainty, etc.) conclusively; settle; solve: to resolve the question before the board.

Origin:
1325–75; Middle English resolven  (v.) < Latin resolvere  to unfasten, loosen, release, equivalent to re- re- + solvere  to loosen; see solve
